Seniors Ashley Eagan and Lizzy Crawford set new program records for the Pepperdine women’s track team at the Battle Born Classic in Reno, Nevada. The two-day event concluded with both athletes achieving top performances in their respective events.
Head coach Lauren Floris commented on the team’s efforts, stating, “I’m so proud of everyone, especially Ashley and Lizzy. This weekend brought both highs and lows but I’m so proud of how the team handled both. We gained a lot of experience that will be helpful when we come back for MPSF in a few weeks.”
Lizzy Crawford secured an individual win in the indoor 3,000-meter race with a time of 9:52.04, finishing more than 14 seconds ahead of second place. This result marked her first time running under ten minutes in this event; she previously held the record from last January.
Ashley Eagan placed ninth out of 40 competitors in the indoor 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.88, improving her previous personal best by nearly six seconds.
Earlier this season, Eagan and Crawford had already set other program records—Eagan in the indoor mile (5:04.88) and Crawford in the indoor 5K (16:58.63) during competition in Boston.
The team used this meet to familiarize themselves with the track at Reno-Sparks Convention Center ahead of their return for the MPSF Championships on March 1. Their next scheduled event is at Rossi Relays in Claremont, California on February 28.
Pepperdine’s cross country and track programs have been active since the 1950s and have produced multiple national champions and Olympians over their history.
