Pepperdine women’s volleyball middle blocker Ella Piskorz has been named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, according to an announcement from the league on Monday.
This recognition marks Piskorz’s third weekly honor in 2025 and the fourth of her career. Four different Pepperdine players have earned a total of seven West Coast Conference weekly awards this season. Piskorz is currently the only player in the conference to have received multiple defensive honors this year.
Head Coach Scott Wong commented on her performance: “Ella is continuing in her upward trend in both attacking and blocking. The numbers she has been putting up in our most recent three-set matches have been nothing short of elite!”
During last week’s Senior Day match, where Pepperdine swept Santa Clara, Piskorz led with nine total blocks, including a career-high six solo blocks. Her efforts contributed to holding Santa Clara to their lowest hitting percentage of the season at -0.77. Her nine blocks also tied for the fourth-most by a Pepperdine player in a three-set match.
Piskorz leads the West Coast Conference and ranks 20th nationally with an average of 1.44 blocks per set. She also tops the conference with 131 total blocks and 106 block assists, placing her 25th in Division I for total blocks. As a team, Pepperdine averages a league-leading 2.76 blocks per set.
Pepperdine will play against San Diego, who currently lead the league, next Thursday at 7 p.m. Further schedule updates are available on pepperdinewaves.com.
