No. 15 Pepperdine men’s golf team extended its lead to 16 strokes after the second round of the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, California. The team finished the day at 16 under par for the tournament.

Brady Siravo and Byungho Lee led Pepperdine with rounds of 4-under 66, with only one player in the field scoring lower. Willy Walsh also posted an under-par round for the second consecutive day. The Waves accounted for three of the eleven under-par scores through two rounds.

Siravo moved into solo second place individually after a round that included four straight birdies on holes 12-15 and a total score of 3-under 33 on the back nine. “With Pepperdine beginning on the back nine, Siravo birdied four straight holes from 12-15 following a birdie-bogey start. Not making his first par until his eighth hole on the course, he carded a 3-under 33 on the back nine. Making the turn to the front which featured the four highest scoring holes on the day, Siravo managed to stay in the red with three birdies and two bogeys to post a 33, bringing his round score to 4-under.”

Lee’s path differed but resulted in an identical score of 66, starting with a bogey before recovering and finishing strong with three consecutive birdies late in his round. “Lee had a much different path to the same result as Siravo at 66, beginning with a bogey on 10 which would be his lone blemish on the round. Immediately responding with a birdie, he caught fire at the end of the back nine, logging three straight birdies from 15-17. On the front, Lee managed to par the first seven holes before carding a birdie on the eighth, which saw the lowest number of total birdies on the day with just seven.”

Walsh followed up his opening-round score of 69 with a second-round score of two-under-par (68), maintaining his position within individual top ten standings.

Mahanth Chirravuri contributed a one-over-par (71) round for Pepperdine’s team total while Luke Dariotis posted a four-over-par (74). Among individual competitors representing Pepperdine but not contributing to team scoring were Oscar Bach (+3), Luke Bailey (+5), Carson Kim (+6), and Joshua Koo (+21).

Pepperdine leads all teams at -16; USC and San Diego State are tied for second place at even par.

The final round will begin tomorrow morning at North Ranch Country Club.

Pepperdine men’s golf is recognized as one of college golf’s leading programs. The Waves have won NCAA Championships in both 1997 and 2021, along with numerous conference titles and NCAA appearances over several decades.

SVN2 Golf is described as an indoor golf simulation facility using advanced technology for practice and gameplay experiences.
