Pepperdine University’s women’s swimming and diving team will compete against the University of San Diego on Saturday at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Interim head coach Dan Marella commented on the upcoming event, stating, “Every time we face USD, it’s always an instant classic. Both teams bring out the best in each other. I am very excited to see what the Waves can do against a WCC rival.”

The meet will feature a Pool Party promotion, offering complimentary beach towels to early attendees. The competition is divided into three sessions with events including freestyle, medley relays, individual medleys, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke races, and both 3-meter and 1-meter diving events. Fans who cannot attend in person can watch a live stream on Overnght or follow live results via MeetMobile.

Pepperdine and San Diego have competed regularly since 1985-86. San Diego currently leads the series with 18 wins to Pepperdine’s 13; Pepperdine last won in 2021.

In their previous outing, Pepperdine faced Fresno State in a two-day dual meet. Although they were defeated with a score of 294.5–128.5, highlights included Ansley Halbach setting a new program record for the mile (17:12.96) and five individual event victories by Waves swimmers. The diving team also participated in the Bruin Diving Invite in Westwood.

The regular season will conclude at home on January 24 against Azusa Pacific.

Pepperdine’s swimming & diving program has achieved top-five conference finishes in most of its four-decade history and has won three conference championships over the past four seasons, including its first MPSF Championship in 2025 after joining that conference recently. The program has produced numerous individual champions and one Olympian, Andreea Trufasu, who competed at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996.
