Pepperdine University’s women’s swimming and diving team will compete in a dual meet against Fresno State on Friday and Saturday at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu. The events are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday.

This meet marks the first time this season that Pepperdine will participate in kickstroke and fin events. An unscored solo dive exhibition is also planned, as Fresno State’s squad will not include divers for these meets.

The competition schedule includes sprint events on Friday, such as the 400 medley relay, 50 fly, 100 kick, and others. On Saturday, races like the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, and 500 free are set to take place.

Both days of the meet will be available for streaming through Overnght for subscribers. Results will be posted to MeetMobile.

The two teams have met 20 times previously, with Fresno State leading the series 19-1. Pepperdine last defeated Fresno State in 1988 by a score of 141-106.

In their most recent competition, Pepperdine achieved a win over Cal State East Bay but lost to San Diego State. While in San Diego earlier in the week, the Waves secured five victories. Jackie Johnson earned another first-place finish with a score of 281.63 in the three-meter dive during her first year with the team. Freshman Sophia Blietz won the 200 backstroke event with a time of 2:06.30.

Pepperdine’s next meet is scheduled against San Diego on January 17, where early attendees can receive themed beach towels as part of a promotional event.

According to program information, Pepperdine swimming & diving has finished among the top five teams in its conference for 32 out of its past 39 seasons. The team has won three conference championships in four seasons and claimed its first MPSF Championship in 2025 after joining that conference one year prior. In its previous conference (PCSC), Pepperdine had numerous individual champions and major award winners over nearly four decades.

“Andreea Trufasu stands as the program’s lone Olympian, having competed in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.”
