Pepperdine University’s women’s basketball team secured a 76-52 victory over San Jose State on Sunday in Malibu, marking the program’s best season start in seven years with a 4-1 record. The Waves led for all but 18 seconds of the game and established control early, finishing the first quarter ahead 21-12.
Head coach Katie Faulkner commented on her team’s performance: “I love the team we are choosing to become. Unselfish basketball was on display tonight and that is the heart of our culture and who we want to be.”
Pepperdine maintained momentum throughout the match, shooting 50 percent from three-point range in the second quarter. Seleh Harmon, Bella Green, and Elli Guiney were key contributors before halftime, with Pepperdine extending its lead to double digits at the break.
In the second half, Pepperdine shot .417 from the field and .375 from beyond the arc while holding San Jose State to just 24 points. Guiney led scoring with 10 points after halftime, followed by Harmon and Shorna Preston with eight each. The win’s 24-point margin is Pepperdine’s largest since last season’s road victory over CSUN.
Elli Guiney finished as top scorer with 19 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Preston went five-for-nine from the field and made three out of four three-pointers. Meghan Fiso led rebounding for Pepperdine with ten boards, breaking Preston’s streak as leading rebounder this season. Guiney also posted a team-best plus-minus rating of 29.
Seleh Harmon scored 14 points—including four three-pointers—and continues to lead the West Coast Conference in both three-point percentage and threes made per game. The Waves are averaging 74 points per game this season.
Pepperdine will next play No. 11 USC in Los Angeles on Black Friday at 2 p.m., with coverage available via ESPN+ (subscription required) and live stats at pepperdinewaves.com.
