Pepperdine University’s women’s volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory over Gonzaga on Wednesday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse. The win brings Pepperdine’s record to 20-8 overall and 14-3 in the West Coast Conference.
The match marked a significant milestone for head coach Scott Wong, who achieved his 200th career win with the Waves during his 11th season leading the program.
Pepperdine won the first set 25-23 after several lead changes, using a five-point run to establish control. Maggie Beauer led with seven kills in the opening set, while Irelynd Lorenzen secured the final point off an assist from Tristen Raymond.
In the second set, Gonzaga took an early four-point lead before Pepperdine responded with five consecutive points. Charis Kai contributed during this run, and Chloe Pravednikov added multiple kills. The Waves maintained their advantage throughout, finishing the set 25-17.
The third set was closely contested until Pepperdine gained momentum late in the frame. With a two-point lead at 23-21, Beauer scored her thirteenth kill of the match, followed by a block from Lorenzen and Raymond that ended the contest at 25-21. This sweep marks Pepperdine’s eleventh of the season.
Beauer finished as top scorer for Pepperdine with 13 kills and four blocks. Pravednikov had ten kills and three digs, while Raymond posted a game-high of thirteen digs alongside thirty-two assists. Ella Piskorz recorded six blocks and seven kills; Lorenzen led all players with seven blocks.
“Once again, a real nice job by our block and serve today as we created some issues for Gonzaga,” said head coach Scott Wong. “I am proud of how we have been growing in becoming more efficient in our offense and today was a great example of that.”
Pepperdine will close out its regular season against Saint Mary’s on Saturday at noon; coverage will be available on ESPN+.
The Waves’ program has appeared in twenty-six NCAA Tournaments since 1981 and has claimed twelve West Coast Conference championships. It has produced twenty-one All-American athletes across six decades and multiple Olympians, including Kim Hill who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
