Innovation: 7 patents granted in Thousand Oaks in week ending Aug. 8

Patent 13

There were seven patents granted in Thousand Oaks in the week ending Aug. 8, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is five more than the week before. Patents included a risk-stratification of b-precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 8 belonged to Amgen, Inc. who filed in Aug. 28, 2014.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
