Patent office approves 2 patents for Simi Valley innovators in week ending Aug. 15

Patent 6

There were two patents granted in Simi Valley in the week ending Aug. 15, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is unchanged from the week before. Patents included a safety ladder support for use with parapet roofs and to protect gutters on the roof during a construction project.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 15 belonged to Russell N. Bancroft who filed in Jan. 17, 2020.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
