City of Moorpark issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
The City of Moorpark’s Department of Community Development is releasing, for public review and comment, its draft 2021-2029 Housing Element update. The Housing Element, a section of the City’s General Plan through the year 2050, analyzes housing needs for all income groups and demonstrates how the City intends to plan for those needs in the future. The issue of housing availability and affordability in California has risen to the highest level of importance at a State legislative level, and local governments have a wide variety of responsibilities related to improving housing.
The City of Moorpark is hosting a website for the Housing Element update: www.moorparkca.gov/HousingElement. The website includes notifications and results of opportunities for public engagement, surveys, and documents, including a draft version of the Housing Element. The draft Housing Element was posted on December 22, 2021 and will be available online for 30 days before public hearing.
In January 2022, the City’s Planning Commission and City Council will review the Draft Housing Element and provide input before City staff submits the draft document to the California Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD) for formal review. Following HCD’s review, the updated version of the Housing Element will return to the City Council for adoption.
