Highlighting the amazing Administration, Faculty, Classified Professionals, and Students that make up our pirate family. 

This month's highlights include:

Family Life: I have two siblings - an older sister who attends Northridge and a younger brother in the Navy

Hobbies: Shopping, working out, traveling

Favorite Food: Pesto pasta

Favorite Song: Lovely by Brent Faiyaz

Something fun, interesting, and/or unique about you: In my free time I love keeping up with the latest fashion trends and styling different outfits

 

Sandy Mason, Administrative Assistant for Visual Arts, Ethnic Studies, Library, Languages, Social/Behaviorial Sciences

Name: Sandy Mason

Primary role at the College: Administrative Assistant for Visual Arts, Ethnic Studies, Library, Languages, Social/Behaviorial Sciences

Years of Service: 15 years this November

Family: Married for 36 years, with two boys, Derek 31 and Dylan 28

Hobbies: Mountain Biking

Favorite Food: That's a problem because I like all food, but if I had to pick one it would be Japanese food

Favorite Movie: Harold & Maude

Favorite Song: You're My Woman by Van Morrison

Something fun, interesting, and/or unique about you: I used to make my living working with horses in Thousand Oaks, and I climbed telephone poles installing cable TV in the 70's in  South Dakota(brrrr..)

 

Adrienne Arguijo-Morgan, Grant Director, HSI-STEM

Name: Adrienne Arguijo-Morgan

Primary role at the college: Grant Director, HSI-STEM

Project S:AIL enhances Ventura College’s Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) designation by transforming institutional structures and culture to embrace a serving-minded campus that centers, and builds upon, the cultural and intellectual assets of Latine STEM students. Project S:AIL expands institutional capacity and enhances the quality of academic and student support programs that reach all students, and as a result, ensures Latine and historically marginalized students achieve equitable academic, transfer, and career outcomes in STEM

Years of Service: 1 month (I’m new here!)

Family:  I am the youngest of 5 children and the first in my family to graduate college. I am married and have one dog child, a 12 year old English Pointer

Favorite food:  Tacos and pizza (in no particular order). I also love Cherry Coke.

Favorite movie:  I love Tom Hanks, Forrest Gump is in my top 2. The other Is Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Favorite song:  I love Selena, No Me Queda Mas. I love 80s and 90s music, I can’t pick!

Something fun, interesting, and/or unique about you: I get really excited when it’s time to eat (which is always!). I’ve been known to do a little dance in my chair if it’s extra tasty! I love trips to Disneyland and laughing (a lot!). I’m VERY passionate about HSI, racial equity, and social justice.

Dan Clark, Physiology, Anatomy, Biology, and Biotech Professor

Name: Dan Clark

Primary role at the college: Physiology, Anatomy, Biology, and Biotech Professor

Years of Service: almost 7 years

Family: My parents and one of my brothers live in San Diego, and my second brother lives in Gilroy, CA, where he heads an AP Computer Science program at Christopher High School.

Hobbies: I love sci-fi! My favorite sci-fi world is the Culture universe, which is spread across several novels and short stories. The Expanse and Rick and Morty are two of my fav sci-fi shows.

Favorite movie: Keeping with the sci-fi theme, my favorite movie is Twelve Monkeys.

Favorite song: I have a pretty wide-ranging taste in music, but my favorite group is Justice, a French DJ duo.

Something fun, interesting, and/or unique about you: As you can see from my pic, I love to travel, and have done so primarily by car. In 2016 I drove solo from SD to Alaska. 10,000 miles in three weeks, seeing a bunch of Canada, tons of wildlife, and reaching the northernmost point in on the Pan-American Highway, Prudhoe Bay.
