Test Drive An Electric Vehicle At National Drive Electric Week

Ventura, CA – Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (VCREA) is hosting an outdoor Electric Vehicle (EV) Showcase and Ride n’ Drive event on September 27, 2022, at the Ventura County Government Center. The public is invited to meet with local EV owners and check out their EVs, test drive a variety of EVs from local dealerships, and seek purchase guidance from industry experts. This free event is part of National Drive Electric Week’s (September 23 – Oct 2, 2022) online and in-person events occurring in more than 180 communities across the country that highlight the climate, clean-air benefits, and cost-savings provided by driving an EV.

When: Tuesday, September 27, 2022, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: Ventura County Government Center Lot G, 800 S Victoria Ave, Ventura, CA 93009

VCREA will also host a static EV Show in conjunction with the popular Thursday Plaza Park Farmer’s markets. The public is invited to check out local EVs and learn about available EV rebates and incentives. A Clean Power Alliance (CPA) representative will also be present to share home energy saving tips and rebate programs.

This year’s Inflation Reduction Act announcement, as well as statewide transportation electrification targets are changing the landscape for EVs in the next decade. In the coming years, EVs will become more affordable, more prevalent, and easier to charge. Californians are making the switch to electric to avoid high gas prices, reduce their carbon footprint, and make their contribution to clean air in their communities.

There is also a range of in-person EV events occurring in the Tri-county Region (Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo (SLO) counties) throughout the National Drive Electric Week. These events, hosted by our regional partners, highlight the many benefits – including affordability – of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more:

  • Sunday, 9/25 – EV Advocates of Ventura County presents: Ventura Harbor EV Showcase @ Ventura Harbor from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
  • Thursday, 9/29 – San Luis Obispo Farmers’ Market Electrify Your Life Showcase @ 1022 Morro St from 6:00 – 9:00 pm
  • Friday, 9/30 – Santa Maria EV Showcase @ Downtown Santa Maria from 5:30 – 8:30 pm
  • Saturday 10/1 – San Luis Obispo EV Ride and Drive @ Perfumo Creek Commons from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

National Drive Electric Week is presented nationally by Plug In America, Electric Auto Association, Sierra Club, and EVHybridNoire. Local sponsors include County of Ventura, VCREA, Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition (C5), and Community Environmental Council (CEC). On the ground support and organization is being provided by the VCREA, EV Advocates of Ventura County, CEC, Air Pollution Control Districts of Ventura, Santa Barbara and SLO Counties, SLO Climate Coalition, C5, and Electric Drive 805.
