The lengthening daylight heralds the arrival of spring, aligning with Lent, a reflective period for Lutherans and around a billion other Christians, spanning from March 5 (Ash Wednesday) to April 20 (Easter Sunday). Reflecting on the season, the acrostic "LENT" — “Let’s End Negative Thinking” — serves as a call to choose hope, action, and faith.

At California Lutheran University, cultural values play a significant role. The institution prioritizes service, resilience, and grace, adhering to its Lutheran roots while fostering open inquiry and inclusiveness. This foundation is central to supporting its community.

The university's "Peace by Piece" initiative embodies this vision. It encourages involvement from the university's community in efforts to bring peace to wider societal contexts. A key element is "Perspectives," an asynchronous online learning module by the Constructive Dialogue Institute. This program aids participants in handling challenging conversations, cultivating understanding despite differing viewpoints, and is considered a step towards peace.

This focus on service resonates across the university, as exemplified by its faculty, staff, and alumni who are committed to nurturing a supportive and thriving campus environment. The commitment to purposeful work aligns with the university's values.

Interim President John A. Nunes highlighted the university's celebration of these efforts and expressed gratitude for the shared journey with the community, wishing blessings upon all involved.
