Narrowleaf Milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis)

East county residents! There will be one last no-cost giveaway of Native Narrowleaf Milkweed plants (Asclepias fascicularis) this Saturday, July 30 in Moorpark from 9am - 12pm. By planting native milkweed, you can help sustain local Monarch Butterflies.

This event is possible thanks to a collaboration between our Ventura County- Agriculture/Weights & Measures Dept., the Office of District 4 Supervisor Bob Huber, the City of Moorpark Government, and the Santa Monica Mountains Fund. First-come, first-served while supplies last!

The sale of non-native Tropical Milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) is no longer allowed in any nursery or retail center in Ventura County due to its recent reclassification as a B-rated noxious weed by the state. Homeowners are encouraged to remove tropical milkweed from their gardens. For more information visit https://www.ventura.org/agricultural-commissioner/ or call our Agricultural/Weights & Measures Dept. at 805-933-2926.
